Salmon Creek Medical Center
Project Summary: This brand-new, $ 200,000,000 medical center was designed by ZGF Architects to serve the growing and aging population of southwestern Washington state.
Exterior envelope systems of this medical center include brick and thin-stone veneer, stone tile, concrete block masonry, and panelized metal wall systems, glass-block masonry, store-front and curtain-wall window systems, single-ply roofing, and reinforced hot-rubber fluid plaza waterproofing.
PL:BECS Services: PL:BECS consulted to ZGF Architects in the building’s early design stages to minimize risks of structural deflections, leakage, and accelerated weathering and degradation. Hundreds of enclosure details were reviewed to identify possible vulnerabilities and suggest alternate detailing approaches. Design input was provided economically via hand-sketched alternate details for numerous exterior conditions. For optimal clarity, specific materials were identified by color in these sketches.
